ARTISTIC MEDIUMS: REVELATIONS OF THE INVISIBLE - MONA (Museum of New Art) Pontaic - Sat April 5th 6-9pm

ARTISTIC MEDIUMS: REVELATIONS OF THE INVISIBLE
with an OPENING RECEPTION: Saturday, April 5 from 6-9pm
"Loud and Clear" is an hour long performance piece where, dressed in a shirt, tie and expensive shoes, Krumrey spins in circles while shouting “Attention!” into a large black megaphone and a clock ticks off the seconds in the background. It is a repetitive action that at once appears totally absurd, but seen also as a metaphor of communication in all its dizzying ceaselessness.

Bar Brady's Friday Drink Recipe's - PANIC IN DETROIT

Panic In Detroit

In carefree times of leisure, nothing speaks to the spirit of celebration like a deliciously blended cocktail shared with friends on the proverbial promenade deck of life.
But lets face it, nothing lasts forever. And when Johnny Law comes knocking - the last supper cut short - there is no time for subtle pleasantries.
You need a stiff drink. Quick!
But no one says you can’t enjoy it.
Here’s one that works:

1. Grab a large glass fast
2. Throw in some ice (time permitted)
3. Pour in one finger of vodka
4. One finger of gin.
5. One finger of run.
6. One finger of tequila.
7. Add sweet and sour mix or lemonade, and a healthy splash of Coke
8. Bottoms up. Smoke ‘em if you got ‘em. Good Night Irende.
9. ..when the man comes ‘round
Notice that's one booze for each finger to be printed at the station if you actually finish that drink....
STEP 10: Get the hell outta there NOW!
and head down to the corner pub in the NEXT TOWN over....

Lunafest - Main Art Theatre - Sun Mar 30th 4pm

LUNAFEST
LUNAFEST was established in 2000 by LUNA, the makers of the Whole Nutrition Bar for Women, to simultaneously promote women filmmakers, raise awareness for women’s issues, and support worthy women’s nonprofit organizations throughout the U.S. and Canada.
LUNAFEST is completely funded by LUNA and run by a small, dedicated group of LUNA employees. 100 percent of all proceeds are donated to charity – 15 percent to the Breast Cancer Fund and the remaining 85 percent of proceeds go directly back to hosting community organizations.
Over the years, as LUNAFEST has grown from a single annual event to more than 100 festivals each season, LUNA’s commitment to this worthwhile program has grown as well. We are continually inspired by the individual and collective efforts of women – and we are awed by the results. To date, LUNAFEST has raised over $250,000 for worthwhile women’s organizations, while raising hope and awareness for the stories of women everywhere.

We are super busy here at MCB - between the regular jobs, family and of course the MCB activities we get pretty beat....so I decided to get our contributors something to reward them for all the super effort they put forth.....I wasnt sure what to get for them....beer...booze....and then it hit me when I was playing frisbee golf over at Wagner Park in RO - A MASSAGE!
As I was teeing up on the 5th hole I noticed a new place across the street offering massage therapy....so I walked in and talked to Lisa who runs the place about my needs. She had me up on the table in no time doing her thing - working out those kinks ;)
Now I get rubbed down about once a month and this was one of the better sessions I have had in a long time so Bodyworks Alternatives gets a huge thumbs up from us!

Muruga will help turn this Earth Day festival into something spectacular.
Born Steven Bookvich in Detroit, while playing Woodstock he met Swami Satchidananda who gave him the name Muruga.
He has played and recorded with George Clinton and shared the stage with too many to mention. It was in the early 90’s that Muruga urged Merl Saunders to record "Blues from the Rain Forest." Jerry Garcia came in and played on that Grammy nominated album.
Muruga recorded on the Merl Saunders & The Rainforest Band’s live CD "Save the Planet So We’ll Have Some Place to Boogy".
The Macpodz are an electrified jazz quintet from Ann Arbor, Michigan in the tradition of Miles Davis and Frank Zappa. These guys are on there way to greatness playing festivals across the country, including Wakarusa this year. Here’s your chance to say, "I saw them cats in 2008 at the first annual Earth Fest at the Crofoot".
Some artists defy classification. Detroit’s revolutionary soul man, Nadir, rebels against it. "When you get right down to it," Nadir explains, "I’m all about telling stories, singing songs and making music that moves people - spiritually, emotionally, physically, politically, whatever. Don’t just sit there! Do something!" Not only will he blow your mind with his music, Nadir has somethingto say. Check out his blog!

Entrance in back off John R

(Ireland/UK/2007) Directed by Tom Collins
In the 1970s, six ambitious and energetic young men, some friends, some relatives, leave Ireland for London fired up with hopes of making their fortunes and their futures, and eventually returning home in triumph. Thirty years later, only one does return – in a coffin. As the five others reunite for his wake, they’re forced to face up to the realities of the past three decades; these men have not only not followed the path they originally set for themselves, they also now find themselves still struggling to find a center to their lives, as well as to discover a place to truly call home. Adapted from playwright Jimmy Murphy’s acclaimed The Kings of the Kilburn Road, this first major bilingual Irish production (Irish Gaelic and English) features remarkable performances from its brilliant ensemble cast, including the great Colm Meaney (The Snapper). An immigration story at once deeply personal and hauntingly universal, Kings is one of this year’s most powerful surprises. Toronto and Cannes Film Festivals. Gaelic sequences are subtitled.
