Midwest Pillow Fight

Every red blooded man loves a hot-girl-on-hot-girl smack down pillow fight. You know which mythical scenario I'm talking about, where the girls are having a sleepover in their bras and panties and start throwing pillows at each other progressively getting more violent until bras rip off and turns into wrestling on the ground in mud. Well, I'm happy to say that Midwest Pillow Fight brings that to reality in Detroit (well, sort of). The fighters aren't wimpy frat girls but are brimming with attitude, having names like "Jacki Hammer", "Corporal Punishment", and "Natalie Explosion"; this is no poser occasion. The only poser is you if you don't go catch a match and have a brew.

Some background: Professional pillow fighting is a new sport, started in Toronto, Ontario by Stacy P Case, a young entrepreneur who was associated with the music industry. In three years, the Pillow Fight League (tm) has achieved notoriety, and coverage in ESPN and Reuters news groups. Young girls, with tattoos, lurid names, sometimes outlandish costumes and behavior, appealed to the young primarily male audience, and the unstaged combat separated it from Professional Wrestling, while the lack of big money and big egos, appealed to an audience that was decidedly unimpressed with Major League sports. It came to Detroit in 2008 by Dan Toole, who founded the Detroit Dreamweavers, and in 2009, Jeanne Buntain, who performed under the name Molly Ratchett with the Dreamweavers started her own team under the Moniker Mid West Pillow Fight.
