New Creative Center to open October 1st 2009 - Red River Artist Center approved by River Rouge City Council

River Rouge City Council approves The Red River Artist Center
in vacant office building at 10750 West Jefferson
for low cost artist studios, creative offices and a recording studio.
Open House – Sept. 11-12, 2009
Tenancy begins October 1st.
City makes commitment to re-invent itself as a creative hub.
School Board and local landlords will also help create a new beginning in the former city of industry.A joint effort between The City Of River Rouge and The Red River Artist Center, The Red River Artist Center is the first step in a post industrial transformation of River Rouge Michigan, from heavy industry, to a viable creative Community, offering artists and other creative businesses affordable mini-studios and creative spaces, with a First Come/First served
Open House for prospective creative tenants, Friday-Sunday, September 11, 12 (12 Noon -8PM) on a first come/first served basis.Tenancy will begin October 1st.The Red River Artist Center will transform the vacant former Dana Corp Office building at 10750 West Jefferson, into a creative arts center comprised of several affordable artist studios.

which can be leased for everything from a Recording Studio
(with Glassed in control room) and a 4 office, 3 cubicle self contained area
which would be a perfect low-cost alternative
for small publication or an ad/art agency,
Red River Artist Center creates a viable art community
in a 10 year vacant building in the heart of downtown River Rouge.
Larger spaces for full-sized space, perfect for a recording studio (with windowed control room) A large 3 office and cubicle area, perfect for a small Design agency or publication office. Studios vary in size from 200 up to 1000 square feet. Restrooms are available in selected spaces.- Safe, convenient fully heated and air -conditioned, with full access to banks, bars, restaurants, fast food, gas, print shop, ACO Hardware, Dollar Store, Screen printing, Post Office and After Hours Emergency Clinic- all within a 2 block radius. -Cable & Wireless equipped- some office equipment available.-Common work area for bigger projects.
The Red River Artist Center is helmed by Rick Manore, founder of the now defunct CPop Gallery and currently the Director of Public Relations for Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts in Detroit. Manore also works as a freelance Publicist and Creative Consultant.
Inspired by the models of, Wicker Park, IL and PS1 in New York City, the beauty of the Red River Project, is that the entire community is involved in the implementation of this first step, as well as in the long term vision of transforming an Industrial past into a creative future from the Mayor’s office and the School Superintendent, to the landlords and merchants of the city.
