PHOTOS: What Crepe? Royal Oak's Délicieux New Cafe

Photography by Sue Antosh

MCB had the opportunity to check out the new Royal Oak restaurant
“What Crepe”
on Washington near 4th Street in downtown Royal Oak.
Like most - we have had brief experiences with crepes in places like Toronto, Paris and Montreal.
This place got an official
“I would totally eat here again!”
from the MCB crew.
Paul “PJ” Jenkins Jr.’s dream was realized this May at the former location of Café Muse and WILL NOT disappoint. Totally delish with vegan and vegetarian options as well as traditional sweet and savory crepes. French Pressed, locally roasted, fair trade organic coffee are brewed and also serving juices, sodas and teas.

Actually, they have over 50 different kinds of crepes!
We made the choice of Mushroom Madness; button, shitake mushrooms, gruyere swiss cheese concoction, awesomely satisfying. And the Mixed Fresh Berry crepe with smashed fresh berries, house made whipped cream, powdered sugar, beautiful, tasty and not over sweet for those of us who like our berries on the tart side.

The setting is small and quaint- like a Paris bistro.
Stop in, say hi to PJ
(this isn’t the lager house kiddo)
and settle those hunger pangs!
They are open every day but Monday, Tues & Wed from 11:30 – 8:00 pm, Thurs & Fri 11:30-9:00 pm. Saturday from 9:00 – 9:00 and Sunday from 9:00 – 3:00.
And hey, if you work or live in Royal Oak they’ll give you 10% off with proof.
BTW, they are working on their Bistro License from the city
so shortly you will be order a nice fat glass of red with your lunch or dinner.
A + neighborhood joint .
Thanks PJ and best of luck to you!
