The Black Hollies are a throwback to 1967 San Francisco. When you hear them and when you see them, the first thought that leaps to mind might be "The Sonics," or "Kim Fowley," or "The Go," or "The 13th Floor Elevators." These boys have got the look and the sound and I have to say, this will probably be the coolest free Monday night show we put on all year. The Black Hollies are freaking sweet! Idee Fixe is surf garage rock hottie awesomeness. This group has got excellent music and an excellent look. They work hard and will be on the tips of everyone's tongue in the near future. Come check them out now and know you were there from the start. Opening is The Displays, who will look familiar to anyone who frequents the shows in the metro Detroit area. Singer and lead guitarist Andrew Display lives and breathes Detroit rock'n'roll. He's at practically every show of note and is definitely in the running for coolest teenager in town. Luckily for Andrew and his band, they've got the chops to back it up. THESE GUYS CAN PLAY! They blew me away at this year's Sounds & Spirits; so be sure to get to the Lager House on time on Friday so you can see just how good they really are. The next generation of Detroit rock is here...
