Well, the pile of vinyl has been stacking up lately so I took the time to go through a bit of it.....

The Beggars-Us Dudes (wee get so rad)
The Beggars released a brand spankin' new 45 via recent local vinyl juggernaut Loco Gnosis. The record title, which you can hear in the vid above, is an altogther mirror image of The Beggars'sound: feelin good, having a party, rocking out. Whenever I think of The Beggars, I think of Ram Jam in the wrestler describing current music by saying, "What's wrong with people having fun?" Well, ficitional Ram Jam, The Beggars are your answer. You can't help but have a good time listening to this band. Arena rock at the local level in its finest. The b/w of the vinyl is Pile It UP. Having to be played at 33, the song is a bit longer with some great saxaphone and guitar parts. I highly recommend picking this up at one of their live shows. The 45 also includes a URL where you can download a digital copy that comes with 3 extra songs. For more details, click here.

The Black Belles-What Can I Do?

The Black Belles are pretty much Jack White's version on N*Sync. Not in musical styling by any means, but rather by formation. They are a group that consists of girls from all over that had never met and were correlated into a band by Mr. White. With that said, What Can I Do? is really a catchy-badass goth leaning song. It calls to mind The Horror's first EP. A kind of goth tinged surfy garage rock mystique complete with heavy metal sounding synths. I have listened to this single daily, it's that good. The b/w of this 45 is Lies. Lies is an ond garage rock standard that is covered in The Black Belles style. I really like the direction and the sound this project is heading. However I hope it doesn't get bastardized the way The Horrors have been. To order the 45, visit Jack White's terrordome here.

Saadi-Bad City

I received 2 12'' of Saadi's Bad City 12''. Basic packaging pressed on white vinyl. Bad City is a trip-hop song that evokes the new-era Portishead looping vocals and melodic riffs. It's a really good vinyl to fall asleep to. The coolest construct is as soon as Bad City closes it crosses into the Serious Businnes remix without skipping a beat. It's pretty cool how the 2 are strung together in a way that it feels like it is 1 song that spins into a techno house banger. The reverse side is more stripped down and not as dancy. It also includes Saadi's rendition of a Bob Dylan song that definitely puts a new spin on the folkster's deluge. To pick up a copy you can order it, right here.
