PHOTOS: Langorne Slim & Drive-by Truckers - St. Andrew's Hall by Andrew Bender

On April 8th, MCB hit up the Drive-by Truckers show at St. Andrew's Hall. Somehow, our dear photographer for the event decided that since he had the same name as the venue that he could take a hella long time in actually getting his shots posted for your viewing pleasure. Opening for the Truckers was alt-country/indie rockers Langhorne Slim who started out playing to an almost empty house that quickly filled in over the course of their impressive, fast moving and rockin 45-minute set.

By the time Drive-by Truckers came on, St. Andrew's Hall was packed, and people seemed happy to spend their Tuesday night listening to frontman Patterson Hood's thick northern Alabama accent. Hood and co.'s songwriting has always shown a soft side for the working man (and woman) and their first appearance in Detroit since 2006 (okay, yes they played Pontiac in 2008 - but is that really Detroit??) combined a huge array of early work and several tunes off of their recent release "The Big To Do."

Not to mention, MCB hasn't seen that much plaid in person in quite a while. Check out Drew Bender's photos of Drive-by Truckers and Langhorne Slim below:
