TRASHCAN SINATRAS RETURN to the ROAD with OPTIMISTIC SCOTTISH SOUL, EXPANDED NEW RELEASE ‘IN THE MUSIC’
In a musical landscape of flash-in-the-pan acts and hype-based marketing antics, the Trashcan Sinatras have outlasted and outcrafted their rock peers, and now bring their signature Scottish Soul stateside once again with the April 27th release of In the Music, which will be closely followed by a June tour in the United States. The U.S. version of the album features 10 new studio recordings as well as eight previously unavailable live bonus acoustic tracks, recorded during the band’s November UK tour.
Guitarist John Douglas notes, "Touring these new songs is a dream. We get to groove and be loose and soulful. We're focused on In the Music, but with the six piece band and all the harmonies in full flight, we're free to indulge in older songs and maybe even a few brand new tunes."
In the Music’s lead single, “People,” immediately sets the melodic, dreamy tone of the much respected musicians’ new record. Frank Reader’s vocals, which Spinner.com claims would “clear up the cloudiest Caledonian sky,” anchor the album opener, while the fully expanded release showcases both the Trashcan Sinatras’ expert songwriting craft and experienced live musicianship.
Other songs include “Oranges and Apples”, a seven-minute tribute to the late Syd Barrett of Pink Floyd, as well as “I Hung My Harp Upon The Willows” a piece about the early life of Scotland’s national treasure, poet Robert Burns, and his battle to regain self-confidence when living in the Trashcans’ home town.
Recording sessions for In the Music started in New York City and wrapped at a studio set up by producer Andy Chase (of Ivy/Brookville) in Martha’s Vineyard. Iconic American singer-songwriter Carly Simon is Chase’s neighbor and heard the initial mix for “Should I Pray?” She connected so strongly with the track that she later added her own backing vocals in Martha’s Vineyard.
In the Music will be released in the U.S. on April 27th through all major music retailers via Fontana Distribution and digital download sites via INgrooves.
