A new exhibit opened this month at the Cranbrook Institute of Science, which will run through the end of the year. Cranbrook has long had a large and enviable collection of fossils and replicas, and this new exhibit is enormous—6,000 square feet on two different floors. It features both casts and original specimens, including real eggs and a genuine Icthyosaurus. (Cloning. It's going to happen.)
Why this is all significant:
Nowhere in this exhibit are human beings shown cavorting with dinosaurs. This is real science; Jesus did not ride an Apatosaur. (But you can touch a real Apatosaurus limb bone at the exhibit!)

Cranbrook Science is open Friday nights until 10pm. Just about my favorite thing is going there around 8 when it's either all adults or adults and Serious Children. My love of Serious Children is very nearly a 1:1 ratio with my avoidance of regular children. Go check it out.

World of Dinosaurs: Land, Sea & Air developed by Cranbrook Institute of Science is the most comprehensive exhibit on dinosaurs and other reptiles and birds from the Mesozoic Era ever displayed in Metro Detroit. It encompasses 6,000 sq ft on two levels with more than 40 varieties of extinct animals represented by over 60 skeletal mounts casted and restored from the original specimens. The exhibit is anchored by the Hankla collection, arguably one of the world’s most significant private fossil collections, assembled by Jack and John Hankla and augmented with additional specimens from the Institute collection, including donations of specimens by Michael and Barbara Sincak.
