Here is a little bit of history about
The State Bar & Fillmore Detroit
Opened in 2000 when Comerica Park across the street was built. Prior to that, the space had been used for storage and before that the space had housed a Christian book store. The State Bar has many historical “artifacts” as interior décor, including sconces from the old Detroit Hudson’s café, chandeliers from a Catholic church and a large wall sconce from a Fox theater in Missouri. Other interior décor includes award-winning rock concerts posters by Mark Arminski, local favorite artist and historical photos of the city of Detroit by the renowned Manning Brothers.
We proudly serve many Michigan beers and a great menu of appetizers and dinners.

The Fillmore opened in 1925 as a Movie Palace.
Back in the day, it was built to show silent movies. It opened as the State Theatre and over the years has had other names, such as the Palms and the Palms-State. The second lobby boasts original chandeliers from 1925, as well as some original velvet curtains over our famous stage. The world movie premier of Rebel Without a Cause played at the State/Fillmore. The venue has hosted everything from silent movies, to vaudeville, to Broadway style plays, to major dance parties and now live music (rock concerts).
