JUBILEE
(Encore presentation)

(UK/1979. Dir: Derek Jarman. Color video)
Queen Elizabeth I travels to late twentieth-century Britain to discover a tawdry and depressing landscape where life mostly seems aimless and is anyway held cheap. [Sound familiar? Soothsayer, that one.] Three post-punk girls while away their vacuous existence as best they can, from time-to-time straying into murder to relieve the boredom.

It's a cast you can't resist, including Little Nell (famously of RHPS), the beloved/demented Wayne County, and, most awesomely, "introducing Adam Ant."

Heavy Metal (1981)

Based on the popular magazine of the same name, this animated cult film interweaves six visionary stories of science fiction and fantasy. The soundtrack includes such rock superstars as Black Sabbath, Blue Oyster Cult, Cheap Trick, Devo, Donald Fagen, Grand Funk Railroad, Sammy Hagar, Journey, Nazareth and Stevie Nicks.

Decline of Western Civilization II: The Metal Years (1988)

Featuring concert footage and interviews with stars and fans, the second of director Penelope Spheeris's documentaries about the Los Angeles music scene focuses on heavy metal, the raucous genre that has provoked controversy since the late 1960s. With her penetrating questions about sex, drugs, money and gender politics, Spheeris examines the lives of rock idols Ozzy Osbourne, Paul Stanley and Steven Tyler, as well as those of their devoted fans.
