FRIDAY NIGHT: Fareed Haque & MathGames in Ypsi

Master guitarist Fareed Haque and his brand new funk, electronica, dance band MathGames is coming to the Elbow Room in Ypsilanti this Friday night! If you’re a fan of truly amazing guitar players, you’ll love Fareed. Not to mention, if you love crazy, spaced out jazzadelic, funktified, tasty grooves, this is one not to be missed. The best part of seeing any Fareed Haque performance, is you never know what you’re gonna get! It could be a psychobilly version of Prince’s hit “Kiss,” or a seriously cerebral groove that’ll make your head explode – you just don’t know (and that’s half the fun!). MCB's Andrew Bender will be at the Elbow Room getting his mind blown and taking photos amidst the musical insanity.

Opening for MathGames is the Brennan Andes Trio - led by the bass player for Ann Arbor's funkathon party band the Macpodz Brennan Andes, this is a great way to start the night.

MathGames made its recent debut at Chicago's Mayne Stage theater in November of 2010. See some video at the link below to see how this unique trio is transforming light and sound into a funktronica sweatbox. Combining the phenomenal skills of guitar master Fareed Haque with the wildly entertaining drumming of Greg Fundis, and the solid and sweet foundation supplied by Alex Austin on bass, you get a MathGames equation that will perplex but eventually satisfy your thirst for knowledge. The band will continually provide new sights and sounds, utilizing video and light artists whenever possible. Surprises are in store. YES!
