UPCOMING: New Reggae Lounge Opens Saturday with DJ No Requests

BOOMBASTIC
Reggae Night with DJ No Requests
Saturday, July 30 | 9pm-2am | $5 Cover
PPH Lounge 11526 Portlance Street, Detroit, MI 48205

DJ No Requests has personally assured me that this Saturday will be the night for Detroit reggae lovers. "BOOMBASTIC" he exclaimed!

At first I assumed the reason for this outburst was to emphasize the strength of his word, but as it turned out, BOOMBASTIC is the name of the event that will bring Detroit's reggaenites together this weekend. BOOMBASTIC will be held at the new and mysterious PPH Lounge, located in Detroit at Hoover & McNichols. There will be security.

No one really requested that an event be created for the underrepresented population of Detroit reggae lovers, but I gathered from my conversation with DJ No Requests that he knows what the people want even before they do. As he explained,

With the flood of generic music being produced and promoted, reggae has started to lose ground in Detroit. But No Requests knows there are loyal reggae listeners who crave to groove to reggae’s signature bass lines over loudspeakers. And he knows they don't want the groove to be watered down by R & B and Pop songs...At BOOMBASTIC, Detroiters can come party to the best culture, dance hall and reggae sounds. Cover is only $5 so everyone can come and party.

When I inquired as to whether DJ No Requests would be playing anything by turn-of-the-century pop/R&B/reggae sensation, Shaggy, DJ No Requsts blasted a smoke bomb down to the ground and vanished into thin air (seemingly).

...Will the opening of PPH be the night for Detroit reggae lovers?

...How does DJ No Requests really feel about Shaggy?
