WIN TICKETS: Widespread Panic - 10/14 - Detroit Fillmore

Southern rock jam band extraordinaire Widespread Panic returns to Detroit as part of their 25th anniversary tour. MCB is giving away 2 tickets for their one performance in the D on Friday, October 14th. Email us at motorcityblog@earthlink.net with your name and phone number for a chance to win! The winning entry will be notified next week by Wednesday or Thursday.

Afficianados of psychedelic rock, southern jams, 6-string bass insanity, and intensely interwoven guitar, keys and percussion should not miss out on Widespread Panic's all too infrequent visits to the Motor City. Fronted by singer and rhythm guitarist John Bell, Widespread Panic (or just 'Panic' to their fans) crafts original set lists from night to night, drawing from their extensive repertoire of hundreds of original and cover songs - so much that they've been called the best cover band in the world. Infusing soul with hard-rocking southern chops, the band is just as likely to cover Curtis Mayfield's 'Pusherman' or Talking Heads' 'Life During Wartime' as tunes from the likes of Bloodkin, Jerry Joseph, or the late great Vic Chestnutt. This is sure to be one beer and whiskey-fueled evening as guitar legend Jimmy Herring (formerly of The Dead, Aquarium Rescue Unit among others) and bassist Dave Schools are sure to throw down some ridiculous heat.

Word has it that this may be Panic's last tour for a while as the boys are taking a much deserved break from their seemingly non-stop touring schedule. MCB's Andrew Bender will be on hand photographing the scene, rocking out (and probably drinking too much whiskey). This is definitely one not to miss!
