In It's All That Glitters a book published by Schiffer books author and photographer Brian C. Janes documents various burlesque performers in their homes. It is a visual treat! Really one can learn so much by seeing someone's home. Plenty of design lore and quirkiness to take in. Expect to see a lot of retro relics, feminine hosiery and feathers. You can see interests ranging from 80s soundtracks to taxidermy. All share a huge appetite for popular culture and history. A ton of videos, records, and books. The performers also talk about their performing styles, beliefs regarding sexuality, sensuality and burlesque, their mentors, and who and/or what inspired them to take up their creative, fun and spontaneous endeavor. Quite a few were freed from mental hangups after performing. I was delighted to see local burlesque stars Satori Circus, Goldie Adore, and Audra Kubat in this collection. I was given this book to review. This is my first book review of a monthly series. You can purchase this delightful and fun book at www.schifferbooks.com.
