The Great Canadian Beaverfest

The Great Canadian Beaverfest took place at Windsor’s Riverfront Festival Plaza. Saturday night featured Honeymoon Suite, Puddle of Mudd and headlingers, The Cult.  Not even the passing rain had much of an effect on the 6000 fans in attendance that night.

Encore:

Saturday night’s headliner, The Cult, had the crowd charged with energy. Mixing up their set for the night, The Cult played some songs from their recently released album entitled, “Choice of Weapon” including the first single “Lucifer”, to some of their more infamous hits like:”Fire Woman” and “She Sells Sanctuary”, which had thousands of fans singing along effortlessly. The recently turned 50 Ian Astbury shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon and his voice is amazing as always. His only qualms for the evening; keeping his hood on because he was freezing and stating that it’s a “real bummer” to look out into a crowd and seeing people with recording devices, recording the entire show instead of just enjoying the performance.
At the end of their set Ian handed a lucky fan one of the set lists from the stage, which I’m sure made their night even more memorable.
The event was very well organized with decent prices and a safe environment. To everyone involved from promoters, organizers, volunteers and the fans, well done. The event proved to be a success for the second year in a row and I personally look forward to next year.
