Show Review: Slightly Stoopid @ DTE Energy Music Theatre August 15th, 2012

Hailing from Ocean Beach, California, Slightly Stoopid was the perfect band to open up just before 311 last Wednesday at the DTE Energy Music Theatre. Bringing their dynamic sound infused with rock, blue, reggae and punk, they delivered a enthusiastic set that had the crowds rushing down in to the pavilion to get the party started. With Kyle and Myles switching back and forth between bass, guitar and vocals, they launched in to their set with "Don't Stop", a catchy song with infectious hooks fresh off their new release "Top Of The World". The crowd in attendance seemed right at home with the new album, as several fans in the front rows were definitely familiar with the new track. Without pause, the band continued on with "The Fruits" and a rousing rendition of "Gimme That Pussy". With the sun fading quickly over the hill of the lawn, the band became even more active on stage, feeding off the vibe of the crowd dancing across the seats of the pavilion all the way up on to the lawn. Busting out a seventeen song set spanning a wide breadth of their catalog, the night was set for a Detroit party with clouds of dank smoke wafting through the mild summer eve, couples dancing and grinding away with smiles on their faces, drinks flowing freely, as people came together to forget about the world outside the venue. Be sure to catch the Unity Tour at one of the following dates if you can, it's certainly one of the dopest party concerts this summer.
