Toxie began as a one-off recording marathon between Will McElroy (Magic Kids, Barbaras) and singer/bassist Alexandra Burden over four days before parting ways indefinitely. When Alexandra was finished leaving town forever, the two regrouped in Memphis and teamed with recent transplant Madison Farmer (Coasting/Chain & the Gang) and drummer Ben Bauermeister (Magic Kids). Dozens of late nights and 40 band names later, Toxie embodies a jagged assembly of pop moves belying an intrinsic desire to Destroy Everything.
If you like Wire, Blade Runner, the Breeders and robotic dogs then Toxie is for you!
Toxie will be featured on the Gonerfest Bonus 7" that is only available for ticketholders.
They are playing Gonerfest 9 on Friday afternoon, September 28th, at the Buccaneer and have been recording at Willie Mitchell's Royal Studios for their debut album.
"Tearing Up the Streets" will be released on Goner Records as part of their Memphis Compilation LP.
Release date is TBA but should be out before the end of the year.
