At high noon on Wednesday, the Skillman branch Library in downtown Detroit hosted legendary Motown guitarist Dennis Coffey for the first in the series of the revived Noontime Concert Series. Thanks to Compuware, there will be monthly lunchtime concerts at the Skillman Library, free to the public.
Only in Detroit will you find a living legend like Dennis Coffey jamming with a jazz quartet in a library for all to see. Seeing him play classics like "Just My Imagination" up close is a like watching through a time warp. His warm tone and fluid playing give his songs the feel of an old friend but he plays earnestly an passionately as if he were breaking new tunes for the first time.
