Show Review: Teeel, Nightlife DJ Slofu Magic Stick Oct 12

I guess sometimes the best shows are the ones that are shared in the company of friends with great music from artists that are still only too well kept secrets. That's the best way I can think of to sum up Friday night as synth-pop phenom's Teeel and Nightlife played to a small but absolutely beaming crowd with sets of great synth-driven pop. Nightlife started the show with music from their 2 eps and a couple of news songs that continue their path of gorgeous dance pop.

Nightlife
Teeel is Jim Simth, an artist I only became aware of a few months ago, who plays synth-pop tracks which creatively blend guitar and vocals in a mix that washes over tones of warmth, beauty and hints of danger. The wonder of  Teeel's live presentation is that it's all coming form one person and sounds so clean and distinct. The themes of his songs are often based on 80's pop culture with titles like Crystal Lake, Zoltan and Quaid.

Teeel
Before the each of the sets and after was the usual great DJ music of electronic dance and new wave I've come to expect from DJ slofu from Happy Endings and DJ Mikey Love from Strangeways Radio. You can see pics from the show over at my flickr page.
