Wild At Heart
It doesn't look like Detroit is going to be affected too badly by Hurricane Sandy (or Hurrance Sally according to Lohan) but here in Rochester we are getting some heavy winds (up to 50 miles per hour). Luckily, we are not getting half of what the coast is but still making sure everything is secure. Because of this, I haven't had the opportunity to really put my stuff together about my recent Toronto trip where I took in a production of War Horse (an amazing production coming to an end soon), the new Frida and Diego (two of the best known Mexican artists) exhibit at the Art Gallery of Ontario, a New Order concert, a few restaurants and the Canadian Warplane exhibit. With the worst of the weather today and tomorrow, I'll look into getting this done for Wednesday so keep an eye out for some pics and reviews then.
For fans of Shark Tank (or the Canadian version Dragon's Den), I ran into Kevin O'Leary as he was leaving the Art Gallery and waiting for his car. OK, it's not the best picture but I like it anyway. Apparently, the gallery gets a lot of famous people seeing their exhibits.
Movie fans or families looking for something to do this weekend, you can check out the 2nd Annual Fall Fun Festival at Emagine Canton this Saturday, Nov 3rd and Sunday, Nov 4th between 1-5PM for some free activities including a moon bounce, games and crafts. There is also a FREE ticket giveaway in which they are giving away 1000 movie tickets each day good for November and December holiday films.
Here are a few shows I would recommend this week.
Wednesday (10/31) – Insane Clown Posse @ The Fillmore, Everclear @ Hard Rock Cafe
Thursday (11/01) – Milk Carton Kids @ the Ark, Asia @ Royal Oak Music Theatre
Friday (11/02) – Rodriguez @ the Crofoot
Saturday (11/03) – Misfits @ Harpos, Wallflowers @ Royal Oak Music Theatre, Dick Siegel @ the Ark, Vince Gill @ Caesar’s Windsor
Nice to see the Rodriquez show is sold out since he is really a great local talent. Get out and see the "Searching For Sugar Man" documentary when you get the chance.
