at  Detroit Institute of the Arts

Founders Junior Council (FJC), a young professionals auxiliary of the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA), is hosting Cirque: City Lights Dark Nights on Saturday, Feb. 9, from 8 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. in the DIA’s Kresge Court. An annual event hosted by FJC, Cirque has become a “can’t-miss” party on the Detroit cultural and social scene, with proceeds going to the DIA.

Partygoers will enjoy everything they have come to expect from Cirque over the years – great music and entertainment, provided by DJ Prevu and percussionist Jared Sykes; dancing; mingling with a fabulous crowd decked out in “winter chic”; and signature cocktails and appetizers. This year’s event will feature an exclusive private viewing of the exhibition Motor City Muse: Detroit Photographs, Then and Now. With more than 100 photographs on display from Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Frank, Dave Jordano, Karin Jobst, Detroiters Nicola Kuperus, Russ Marshall and Bill Rauhauser, along with select members of the Detroit School of Automotive Photography, Motor City Muse captures the changing landscape of Detroit over the past 70 years.

“Cirque has truly become one of FJC’s favorite events and the perfect respite from the mid-winter blahs,” said Trish Dewald, FJC president. “We promise our guests a really fun night and a chance to support one of Detroit’s world-class cultural institutions, the Detroit Institute of Arts. It’s a great opportunity for the next generation of metro Detroiters to connect and commit to the progress of our great city and the DIA.”

Tickets are $75 and are available at www.dia.org/fjc or by calling 313-833-4005. Dress code is “winter chic.” Valet parking will be provided. Proceeds help the DIA continue to provide the community with imaginative, high-quality programs and exhibitions designed to engage visitors of all ages.

For more than three decades, FJC has been committed to inspiring new generations of art lovers to show their support for the DIA, one of North America’s leading art museums. By bringing together young professionals with a shared interest in promoting the arts, FJC has been credited with hosting some of Detroit’s premier social events while encouraging lifelong participation with the museum.
