Detroit by Detroit III

DETROIT by DETROIT III
Saturday, April 20th, Doors @ 8pm
Magic Stick 4120 Woodward Ave Detroit

In 2011, twelve Detroit bands were given the opportunity to cover twelve other Detroit acts in the inaugural DETROIT by DETROIT showcase. What started as an “April Fools” show has now become an annual tradition in celebrating Detroit music! The 2012 showcase featured fifteen performances, and this year’s line-up boasts sixteen bands covering sixteen other sensational Detroit acts! So much talent is born in the Detroit area, and this is an exciting way to showcase it.

Participating bands were given the opportunity to cover any Detroit artist that is either currently active in the Detroit area, or has been within recent years. Each act will play 3-4 songs by the Detroit act of their choice, with covered acts ranging from the nationally-acclaimed Rodriguez and Bob Seger, to local favorites like The HandGrenades and Passalacqua. For the second year in a row, proceeds will fund a special scholarship at School of Rock – and new this year, students of School of Rock will open the show, performing songs by one of their teacher’s bands! Emceeing this year’s event will be the ladies of Hip in Detroit.

Doors will open at 8pm, with a $5 cover donation. ALL AGES welcome.
