DONT MISS: Holy Motors - Detroit Film Theatre - THIS WEEKEND AT DFT

HOLY MOTORS

Friday, March 08, 2013 Sunday, March 10, 2013

 Detroit Film Theatre

    (France/2012—directed by Léos Carax)

The first feature film in 13 years from France’s Léos Carax (Les amants du Pont-Neuf, Boy Meets Girl) is a visionary, sometimes dark, thoroughly unclassifiable and altogether stunning fantasy set in a modern, dreamlike Paris. Oscar (Denis Lavant of Tokyo!) is a mysterious man who inhabits 11 different characters over the course of a single day and night.

Oscar manages to change his physical appearance – as well as his identity – as he’s shuttled from appointment to appointment in a white limousine driven by his associate (played by the legendary Edith Scob of Eyes Without a Face).

Always surprising, sometimes shocking, never less than visually astonishing, Holy Motors is a full-throttle work of the imagination: the product of a mind born to shatter the boundaries between the motion picture screen and our own limitless dreams.

Recommended for persons 18 and older.
In French with English subtitles. (115 min.)
