ST. JEROME’S LANEWAY FESTIVAL HEADED TO DETROIT THIS SEPTEMBER 2013
LANEWAY’S FIRST FESTIVAL IN THE U.S.

The St. Jerome's Laneway Festival is pleased to announce that it will make its North American debut in metropolitan Detroit this September.

Laneway founders and partners, Danny Rogers and Jerome Borazio, officially announced the location at their third annual SXSW party and showcase at Red 7 in Austin today.  The festival’s new American outpost will be held at Meadow Brook Music Festival in Rochester Hills, Mich. on September 14.

“We’re incredibly excited” said Rogers. “Detroit - with its unbelievably dynamic musical past and present - is the perfect location for our first foray into North America.”

At SXSW the duo also announced their partnership with Palace Sports & Entertainment and Paradigm Talent Agency as the U.S. festival's promoters.

“The Laneway Festival aligns with our mission to bring great music to our fans and we knew we had to bring that to Detroit,” said Lucinda Treat, Palace Sports & Entertainment’s executive vice president for Business Operations and Strategy. “With our venues and resources, we know the Laneway Festival Detroit will continue to maintain the standard Laneway fans the world over expect.”

The Laneway Festival has evolved from its beginnings as a back alley street party in Melbourne in 2004 to become a highlight on the Australasian festival calendar.  The boutique indie festival, renowned for its forward-thinking, adventurous line-ups and inspired metropolitan locations, now spans three countries and seven cities (Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth in Australia; Auckland NZ, and Singapore).

The Laneway Festival has also made its mark on the global festival circuit, with acts such as Feist, Broken Social Scene, Florence + the Machine, Tame Impala, The xx and M83 playing the event in the early days of their careers.  It has become a personal favourite tour of many of the bands that have played, due to the unique sense of community that forms as the artists travel together across Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.

“We continue to expand our vision for Laneway and the Laneway Festival Detroit is just the next step,” Rogers and Borazio said. “We couldn’t have done this without Palace Sports & Entertainment as our global partner and we couldn’t have picked a better city. When you hear ‘Detroit,’ you think Motown, you think rock and roll and you think of great music. We want Laneway to be a part of that conversation.”

Laneway Festival Detroit will feature some of the best indie talent in the business, so stay tuned when Laneway and Palace Sports & Entertainment announce the line-up this Spring.
