Show Review: Psychostick, Blue Felix, Polkadot Cadaver, Downtown Brown in Toledo, OH

Legendary humorcore band Psychostick landed in Toledo, OH over the weekend in support of their 5th and latest release "Space Vampires VS Zombie Dinosaurs in 3-D" (available here). To witness a Psychostick show requires a sense of humor and a willingness to let loose and not take one's self seriously. In a 80 minute set encompassing a depth of songs new and old from their library, the band put on a rock show that is half music, half comedy and total insanity. With props ranging from giant tacos, spiky hats, and ridiculous outfits, Psychostick brings the laughter to any venue with songs that aren't songs but actually sandwiches, raging hormonal anthems like "Because Boobs!", and rhetorical songs such as "Do You Want A Taco?". Who says you can't laugh while you pit? Check out their latest video, "Dogs Like Socks" here.

The supporting line up was no less impressive either, with Blue Felix, Polkadot Cadaver, Downtown Brown, Siklid & Touch Of Rage firing up the crowd early on. Blue Felix singer Toxsick Tripp amazed the crowd with his intensity, finishing his set prone on his back with a broken leg after an unfortunate fall from the rafters where he was hanging upside down singing to the crowd. Polkadot Cadaver's set saw amazing support from the crowd, with singer Todd Smith stepping off stage while letting a die-hard fan lipsync a few songs in his place on stage. Detroit's own funny band, Downtown Brown, showed up to help set the pace for the night, bringing their own brand of metal, humor and funky grimaces to the stage. Local Ohio rockers Siklid and Touch Of Rage opened the night, showing that metal shows are still something to be reckoned with as they both raged on the stage with an obvious core of local fans in attendance.
