Concert Preview: Redlight King, Icon for Hire, Big B the Shelter Fri. 8/23

Live Nation is bringing around their “Ones to Watch” tour by the Shelter this Friday with 3 great new artists. First up is Big B from Vegas. Big B’s music is a mix of hip hop and rock with a reggae flair which you can find on his latest album Fools Gold. The album features guest spots by the Dirty Heads, as well as Slightly Stoopid, and members of NOFX and Pennywise.

Next up are the co-headliners, Icon for Hire from Decatur, IL. Icon for Hire are comprised of Ariel (vocals), Shawn Jump (guitar) and Adam Kronshagen (drums). They are signed with Tooth & Nail Records and play hard-edged rock and punk. For the past 5 years they have been touring across the Mid-West establishing a solid fan base. Icon for Hire is recording their debut record this fall with famed producer Aaron Sprinkle whose previous work includes Anberlin and The Almost.

The other headliner of the show is Redlight King who has performed recently on both Conan and The Tonight Show. In 2012 Redlight King released their debut “Bullet in my Hand” which was strong on rock radio charts and featured the song “Comeback” from the Avengers Assemble album a companion to the movie The Avengers.
Redlight King’s new single, “Born To Rise” immediately shot up the iTunes Rock Charts, hitting #6 within hours of being released. At the core of Redlight King, frontman/songwriter Mark Kasprzyk (aka ‘Kaz’) is first and foremost a storyteller and has a knack for writing songs that strike a nerve.  On their sophomore album, Irons In The Fire (releasing September 10th) the sound is grittier, the guitars crunchier and the songs razor-sharp, full of angst and rebellion but always with a hint of redemption.

With these 3 artists, the show promises a diverse and energetic night guaranteeing you’ll have that “I was there before they broke big time” story. Be sure to show up early as things will get noisy around 7pm.
