Modern Rockers Sponge Added to Arts, Beats and Eats
“Plowed” Hit-Makers to Perform on Main Stage on Monday Sept. 2 at 6:45 pm

Detroit rockers Sponge have been tapped to replace Puddle of Mudd at this year’s Arts, Beats and Eats in Royal Oak, Michigan. Sponge will perform on the Michigan Lottery National Stage on Monday September 2 at 6:45 pm. It will be the third time the Gold-Certified act has played at the popular festival, which draws thousands of attendees annually.  “It’s the last big party of the summer and we look forward to getting everybody fired up for MC Hammer and putting on a no holds barred rock show!” declared Vinnie Dombroski, Sponge’s lead singer.

So far 2013 has been a banner year for Sponge, who catapulted onto the national music scene in the late 90’s with consecutive hits “Plowed,” “Molly/16 Candles,” and “Have You Seen Mary” in massive rotation on MTV and commercial rock radio. The group just finished a very successful stint on the two-month, 40 date Summerland tour, joining other 90’s favorites Everclear, Live and Filter. At the tour’s end, Sponge inked a deal with New York’s The End Records (Danzig, H.I.M.).

Sponge’s seventh studio release “Stop the Bleeding” will be unleashed nationally on September 17, 2013. Sponge will commemorate the release of “Stop The Bleeding,” with “Sponge Day” here in Metro Detroit. The inaugural celebration scheduled for Friday, September 13th will include a VIP barbeque/meet and greet with fans and a special, all-ages live performance from Sponge later that evening at the Diesel Concert Lounge in Chesterfield Township, Michigan (Detroit suburb). Doors are at 7pm. For more info:http://www.dieselconcertlounge.com/TICKETS.html

In the meantime, advance copies of the “Stop the Bleeding” will be available for sale at Arts, Beats and Eats on September 2nd.
