2 Days Until Laneway – Movement/Ghostly Stage

When the folks behind Laneway picked Detroit as their location, it wasn’t only for the crowds they might bring, it was also because they realized what a tremendous music scene we have here locally. They see so much promise we have our own stage of locals acts from the Ghostly International label and supported by the people behind our own Movement Festival.

Movement Stage Schedule:
2:40 – 3:25 Heathered Pearls – Polish Born DJ Jakub Alexander is sole member of Heathered Pearls as well as the founder of Moodgaget Records.
3:30 – 4:15 Beacon – Beacon is a duo combining electronic music with some trip hop/R&B elements. Their latest release is The Ways We Separate.
4:20 – 5:10 Shigeto – Shigeto is Zach Saginaw’s middle name and translates from Japanese to mean “to grow bigger.” I saw Shigeto play Movement earlier this year as he dazzled the crowd with his simultaneous drumming and DJing set.

Adult
5:30 – 6:30  Adult – Adult are renown  electro punk pioneers that after taking a few years off music are back with their latest album The Way Things Fall. The new record features a poppier Adult-sound without losing their menacing groove.

6:60 – 7:50 Matthew Dear – The co-founder of Ghostly International and an artist that has developed his electronic career by continually re-defining his sound. He recently released BEAMS in 2012. I caught Matthew Dear’s DJ set at Movement so I’m really looking forward to a live set from him with a backing band.

The Detroit Free Press today features an article on the history of Laneway and reason they chose Detroit for their US festival debut.
