In Grandpa's Basement a boy named Bobby bonds with his grandpa and assists him in making decoys. The twenty nine watercolor illustrations that accompany this story are lovely. Each detail of the many ducks and birds in this collection are expertly rendered. Bobby learns artistry and  responsibility in his apprenticeship. He also absorbs his grandpa's tender and loving attitude toward nature and human kind. This is an excellent book for those who are family minded, creatively minded and for those who want to instill ethics and a generous attitude in their children. This book is best suited for ages 10-13 and is written by Corinne M. Litzenberg and illustrated by Bari A. Edwards.

In LookBook with Fall/Winter 2013 Runway Looks From Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week designers like Michael Kors, Diane Von Furstenberg, Trina Turk, and Badgley Mischka are spotlighted. This is a first for Schiffer and hopefully will not be the last. For those who can not attend a fashion show in New York City this is the next best thing. The photos are high quality and are definitely an enticing look into fashion trends to come. I especially was partial to Anna Sui's and Trina Turk's collections. The trends for fall and winter in every collection are documented.  This book is your go to for every popular and on trend color, fabric, embellishment, styling, and silhouette of the season. This volume includes luxurious evening wear, hip and fun casual looks, menswear with a ton of moxie, and accessories that are extremely diverse. This book is a must have for stylists, store owners, designers, fashion devotees, and anyone interested in what is now and fabulous.

In Masterpieces of Haitian Art Candice Russell brings together many significant Haitian artists. Paintings, sculptures, masks, and Vodoo flags are shown in this collection. Vodoo beliefs influence a lot of the the stunning Haitian art that has been created over the past seven decades. Despite a 2010 earthquake the Haitian spirit is still quite alive.
Artists like Antilhomme Richard, Robert Saint Brice, Denis Smith, Hector Hyppolite, and Rigaud Benoit are some of the innovative, spirited, and noteworthy artists in this book. This is an essential book for those interested in Haitian history, folklore, history, and art that is created with the utmost creativity and heart.
