The Jazz Cafe Discovery Series Finals this weekend


The Jazz Cafe Discovery Series is presenting two nights of performances by the six finalists in this year's competition.
First prize is $5,000, and a gig at the Detroit International Jazz Festival, Labor Day weekend. Second prize is a gig that the Jazz on the River Festival, August 2-3, in Trenton.
The Jazz Cafe Discovery Series, an educational outreach project of the Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts, is a weekly series of live performances of new and emerging Jazz talent hosted and co-produced by Jazz radio personality, Judy Adams.
Ted Nagy is the Director of the series, who has sought out and presented over 100 groups since the series debut in January '07. Adams gives the bands additional exposure by broadcasting each week's performances on WVMV 98.7 at 11pm.
