EIGHT '86 ART COMPANY HELPS MAKE WISHES COME TRUE THROUGH FUNDRAISER FOR MAKE-A-WISH FOUNDATION.
The Eight '86 Art Company presents "A Fair in the City," on August 24, 2008.
To help raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Michigan- a nonprofit organization that grants wishes to children with life threatening illnesses. The Metro Detroit area has always been considered rich in history, culture, and creativity.
As the next generation take more prominent roles in our community, it is up to us to utilize our skills and talents to not only better our city, but to also reaffirm people's belief in its potential.
The Eight '86 Art Company understands that responsibility, and is holding an event entitled "A Fair in the City," with proceeds going to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Michigan.
The event will take place August 24, 2008 at the Magic Bag in Ferndale. The night will consist of an art show featuring diverse work from artists from all across the metro Detroit area. All work on display will be for sale. Commission taken from any work sold will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and the remainder of the sale will go to the artist. The art show will followed by performances from Jason Longuski, Storms in May, and recently off "Warped Tour" Atavan.
Taken at the door will be a $10 donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. This allows the event to not only promote local art and music, but also the admirable work of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. "What I find exciting about this event is that it simultaneously promotes local art and music as well as the admirable work of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. We feel privileged to be working with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and are inspired by their unwavering commitment to the lives of these children and their families." Said Alen Catolico, Director of the Eight '86 Art Company.
The Eight '86 Art Company is comprised of individuals who are dedicated to utilizing creative avenues in order to raise awareness, support and funds for charitable organizations. Since its inception in 1984, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Michigan -- a chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation ® of America -- has brought joy into the lives of thousands of people in our Michigan community through its important wish-granting mission. The Foundation has granted more than 5,300 wishes in its 23 year history and grants 400 wishes annually. This is the year that the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Michigan challenges our community to reflect on how they bring joy to others and encourages them to join in the magic of making a difference through the gift of Make-A-Wish. More than 80% of expenditures are directly related to program services (wish granting) and the Foundation has offices in Detroit, Ann Arbor and Grand Rapids.
