Jihae's voice is melancholic but defiant.
At times cynical, but always resolute.
Her hypnotic rhythms are seductive and her lyrics, subversively sentimental and knowing.
The dynamics of her music carry each story and poem into a dreamworld, featuring daring arrangements on voice, guitar, cello, viola, bass, synth, drums, percussion and programmed beats.

Jihae is the unique yet familiar sound of now.

A native of South Korea, Jihae grew up in Nigeria and Sweden, and lived in the UK before settling in NYC. Her love of fine arts has led to her collaborations with numerous multimedia artists including Anna Gaskell, Marco Brambilla and Jeff Gompertz. She has co-written songs with David Steel (English Beat, Fine Young Cannibals) and Duncan Sheik. After releasing her critically acclaimed debut album My Heart is an Elephant in spring '07 and Afterthought, a remix EP offering four remixes of tracks on her debut album plus one new song, “Simple Man,” in June 2007, Jihae presents Elvis Is Still Alive.
Jihae’s newest full-length album, Elvis Is Still Alive, will be available November 11 through iTunes and other digital music providers.

Jihae is currently being featured (as both a vocalist and an actor) in Gerald Byrne's video art installation "Interview" shot by renowned cinematographer, Christopher Doyle. “Interview” originally premiered at the Venice Biennale. Jihae also plays a singer/poet of the future in Richard Kroehling's feature film, "Transbeman."
Three songs from Jihae's album are included in the film’s soundtrack alongside compositions by Michael Galasso (composer for Wong Kar Wai's "In the Mood for Love" and for Robert Wilson's "Overture.")
Look for Jihae to hit detroit soon...if we are lucky.
