PROJECT GREEN: Detroit Synergy plants trees in the Motorcity

DSG Shares and Project Clean at Greening of Detroit
Saturday, November 8th 2008

DSG Shares provides an opportunity for volunteers to engage in a service learning event once per month designed to address a specific social issue plaguing our community - hunger and homelessness.

Event engages volunteers in community impact with a Detroit-area organization while educating them on the realities of hunger and homelessness in our community.

Project Clean gathers volunteers to join forces with various groups, organizations and events all over the city to work towards a cleaner and more viable Detroit.

On Saturday, November 8, join two Detroit Synergy projects, DSG Shares and Project Clean, as they collaborate with The Greening of Detroit to replace 55 dead trees in the city of Detroit.

Join us on Saturday, November 8 from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
As part of the Next Detroit Neighborhood Initiative (NDNI), we will be replacing 55 dead street trees that were recently removed by the city, restoring this beautiful Northend community's canopy.

The Greening of Detroit was founded in 1989 to improve the quality of life in Detroit by guiding and inspiring the reforestation of Detroit's neighborhoods, boulevards and parks through tree planting projects and educational programs. Annually, The Greening hosts planting projects, ranging from full park restorations to streetscape renovations and massive street tree plantings to the creation of community and family vegetable gardens.

Volunteers will meet at 9:00 a.m. on 758 Taylor St.
For more information or to volunteer, contact Regina at dsgshares@detroitsynergy.org.
