Music Hall has installed a new digital broadcast billboard and MCB's Amy Palomar will be onsite tonight to document the ribbon cutting. Check back for the pics or better yet go downtown and check it out for yourself.
"MUSIC HALL’S NEW DIGITAL BROADCAST BILLBOARD on our east wall to be unveiled with a RIBBON-CUTTING CEREMONY with Mayor Ken Cockrell Jr, Thursday, December 4th from 5-8 PM.
On Thursday, December 4th at 5:00 PM, the gateway to Detroit’s Entertainment District will take on a Times Square feel, as Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts presents the virtual ribbon cutting of downtown’s first 14’ by 48’ Digital Broadcast Billboard, on the east wall of the 82 year old historic venue, with a VIP ceremony and soiree until 8:00PM.
This new, 72 dpi beacon of light and images, in the heart of downtown Detroit’s Entertainment District will herald the events of an expanding, world-class Downtown playground. This vibrant area is host to millions of people every year, who come to play, eat and enjoy in one of the most culturally diverse and creative cities in North America.
At 6:00 PM, Detroit Mayor Ken Cockrell Jr will do the honors as he “cuts” a 48’ video ribbon to signify a new era in our world-class Entertainment District at the corner of Madison and Brush, followed by a VIP party in the Jazz Café in Music Hall with the Shiron Denise. A cash bar will be availableMusic Hall President Vince Paul and Team Music Hall have worked diligently for over a year, securing funding and logistics to install this tremendous improvement for our city.
Paul sees Music Hall’s new Digital Broadcast Billboard as a watershed moment in the entertainment district’s history, and a bright and shining example of what the city can be:"This big television is more than just a really great marketing instrument”, says Paul, “it articulates Detroit's Times Square. What else do you want me to call an area with 2 stadiums, 12 theatres, 25 restaurants and a huge casino?
It welcomes each of the 19,000 cars a day into the Entertainment District. Its bright lights create a feeling of excitement and safety. It is just the beginning of a much larger effort to make downtown Detroit one of the most exciting entertainment capitals in America."Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts is an historic, non-profit arts organization serving the community since 1928, and is Detroit’s oldest continually running performing arts venue.
The Digital Broadcast Billboard will offer ad space to prospective advertisers whose investment acts as a donation to Music Hall’s non-profit Arts and Education Programs, which in turn, creates a self-generating fundraiser that will help sustain one of Detroit’s most storied and important performing arts venues for years to come.
