The Sugarcoats - Lager House Detroit - Sat March 28th

Saturday, March 28
w/The Blackbelts, Tone & Niche, The Boy Bathing
10pm

The Sugarcoats are a kickass newish project of Corey Weedon and Todd McNulty from Lee Marvin Computer Arm. Magic Shop's Jake Culkowski played his last show with the group on Parade Day at Slow's, so original bassist Neal will be conveniently stepping back in. They've got that Woodbridge sound... it's a true commonwealth 'round them parts!

The Blackbelts are from Chicago and make their way to Detroit to play with their friends in the 'coats. Detroit's Tone & Niche is a guitar and violin duo that brews a refined, light-jangled, warm-toned folk with pensive, setting-sun piano accompaniments and shimmering beautiful violins. Singing saws and steady strummed acoustics carry foggy, world-weary lyrics—the perfect soundtrack for Detroit.

The Boy Bathing is a NYC-based indie band fronted by David Hurwitz. Hurwitz has toured under the moniker since 2004. The band's music focuses on imaginative lyricism and wistful story-telling wrapped around infectious melodies, and a live performance that borders on theatrical. Their first full-length record, A Fire to Make Preparations, was released independently last summer with the help of Team Clermont and Orchard Distribution. Other songs of their’s are featured on European and US compilations with The Arcade Fire, Sufjan Stevens and Jens Lenkman, and they have performed with Kevin Devine, Apollo Sunshine, Crooked Fingers, and The Honorary Title. This is shaping up to be a good year for the group as they recently signed with Canon Records.
