Los Angeles-based quartet Hurt’s current release Goodbye To The Machine debuted in May as #1 On Billboard’s Heatseekers Chart and stayed on the chart for two months. Hurt’s single “Wars” charted on the active rock radio charts and was the band’s fifth straight hit at rock radio and has become one of the band’s fastest rising singles of their career. The band is
comprised of members of J. Loren (vocals), Paul Spatola (guitar), Rek Mohr
(bass), and new member Louie Sciancalepore (drums).

“This band’s all about touring,” comments lead singer J. Loren. “We like to stay in touch with fans and be out there. Just do more of what we do, and hopefully make it to Europe and places abroad with the entire band this time – the only chances we got to go over there have been acoustic shows.”

Some people could misunderstand some of the songs,” says J., “But I assure people, that I’m not going to tell them what to think. With ‘Wars,’ I’m already getting what I expected – people are used to artists doing the whole peacenik thing. But the fact is I worked as an aircraft consultant, and I made jets to blow the shit out of people. It’s not like I’m a complete pacifist, I’m saying, it’s a damn shame that people have to do this.”

Goodbye To The Machine is the follow up to Vol. II, which also debuted at #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers Album Chart upon its week of release. It’s the band’s fifth release overall and the first release via their new label, Amusement Recordings. Hurt’s previous albums - 2000’s self-titled debut, 2003’s The Consummation, 2006’s Vol. 1, and 2007’s Vol.2 – helped the band
build a substantial following throughout the world, while they have also
scored several popular rock radio anthems (“Rapture,” “Falls Apart,” “Ten Ton Brick,” etc.), and have toured alongside some of rock’s biggest names including Staind, Alice In Chains, Seether and others.

“We had this idea of doing a record ‘the old school method,’ as opposed to the previous two records, which had been recorded to Pro Tools – as almost all records are done nowadays,” explains bassist Rek More. “What we wanted to do was go back to our roots, and show a different side of the band – not so much hide behind layers and layers of production. We wanted to write songs that stood more on their own and to record them to analog tape, using analog gear.”

The results of this new approach for the band has certainly paid off, as evidenced by such standout tracks as “Pills,” “Dreams Away,” “Fighting Tao,” and “World Ain’t Right,” the latter of which features Shaun Morgan of Seether.
