Feb. 6th - Scarlet Oaks & Hounds Below @ PJs Lager House

"Scarlet Oaks will want to make you dance, cry and throw back a few in a Detroit parking lot. With new beginnings come new opportunities and challenges. Both musicians had come from rock and roll backgrounds, but Noelle had never played with someone who had such a strong folk and country influence on their song writing. Likewise, Steve had never played with someone who had such a penchant for vocals and harmonies. By combining each of their talents and shortcomings, along with their love of classic American music, the two forged the sound that defines Scarlet Oaks. With the addition of James Anthony on lead guitar and Joe Lavis on bass, the line up was complete."

"The Hounds Below, a new group formed by Jason Stollsteimer of the Von Bondies, inject a fresh vitality into the moonlit sounds of early rock and roll. Comprised of two guitars, bass, organ, and drums, the band utilizes a full range of dynamics, swelling from sparse to full, as directed by the mood of the song. All this provides a lush background for Stollsteimer's reverberating voice. Inspired by a classic era of music, the Hounds Below have an innovative sound--think Roy Orbison meets Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Whether live or recorded, their alluring melodies will captivate and haunt all who listen. They just released a 7" single. "

"There isn't as extensive of a write-up for Timothy Monger, but many of you may recognize him from Great Lakes Myth Society!"

Thanks to mariah c. for the info. A great lineup FO-SHO!
