Haiti Benefit Concert - PJ's Lager House - Feb 4, 2010

Acts Included: Tone (from Tone & Niche), Jeff Jablonski, The Mantons, Flec, Selfmeyi, and DJ Intercom

When there's a fantastic assortment of talent on display for $5.00 US dollars, it's easy to pay.

When 100% of that money goes directly to the Red Cross for Haiti relief efforts, it makes you feel even better.

Starting with spot-on acoustic songwriters Tone, and Jeff Jablonski. Anthony(Tone) is folky, yet old time rock and rolly. Strong, rounded, baritone-tenor voice with memorable lyrics. Jeff Jablonski is a wizard of fingerstyle guitar and chordal journeys. His voice is soft, delicate, often transcendent within the guitar melody.

Next up was the rock-a-billy hippies, and I mean that with love, The Mantons. Fronted by the literally roaring vocals of Mike Anton, they are the epitome foot-stomping, blue-grass rock.

During act breaks, a phenomenal, unique artist, whose name was Flec, did acrobats / illusions with glass orbs. Sometimes holding up to four orbs at a time, he was like the Harlem Globetrotters of glass orbs. DJ Intercom also provided some great sample-type beats between acts.

The final act, Selfmeyi, is best described as a multi-genred funk-pop band. There are 3 singers, each one possessing drastically different vocal technique and image. And there is a four piece super group behind them, playing lively, soulful delicacies. They got a lot of people dancing...even my camera lens seemed to bounce uncontrollably.
