Vinotecca Royal Oak - Tasting by Firefar

Vinotecca Review 2010 by Firefar

Vinotecca, the cool lively wine bar in downtown Royal Oak, has made some changes that are all good. The new chef has expanded the menu to include pizzas, fragrant paella, Bibb lettuce wraps to entrees including filet mignon and grilled salmon. I warmed up to the Tuscan Green salad with a caramel vinaigrette-very fresh, different and I am sure it only tastes fattening. You can still order artisan cheeses and dips and crackers for the table which are very sensibly priced. Other new additions include white table cloths, Yay—upgrade!

Vegetarian entrees and Lemon Cheesecake with raspberry sauce - mouthwatering!

But Vinotecca is about the wine…

and I found a new one,

a Roussanne from Lake County, California called Writer’s Block. It’s the perfect getaway from the chardonnay diet. For the reds I liked a Pinot Noir from a place dear to my heart, the Willamette Valley, Oregon called King’s Ridge – just the right amount of body, fruitiness and balance that makes pinot noir so perfect. Also from the Willamette Valley, Elk Cove Pinot Gris is delectable and crisp. Bonus: if you love it, you can buy a bottle and take it home with you! And if you are really, really into wine join the Wine Locker,
