UPCOMING: 2nd Annual Rock Lottery - Magic Stick Detroit - Wed April 21st

RECYCLE, REUSE, REROCK!
THE 2nd ANNUAL ROCK LOTTERY BENEFITTING THE GREENING OF DETROIT
Wednesday, April 21st - The Magic Stick
8pm / $10 / 18+

Once again the Magic Stick will be hosting a Rock Lottery to benefit The Greening of Detroit.

How this works:
Sixty band members who have been personally invited, will randomly be organized into 15 groups. Each group will have one week to learn one cover song and one original. On April 21st, the groups will perform on one of the two stages set up. The concept of the rock lottery originated in Denton, TX but has become an annual event at several venues nationally.

Please join us in supporting a ‘greener’ Detroit and join the Rock Lottery.

“The Greening of Detroit works to guide and inspire to grow a ‘greener’ Detroit through planting and educational programs, environmental leadership, advocacy, and by building community capacity.”
Through its work to enhance Detroit’s environment and educate its communities, The Greening strives to:
Improve the quality of life for those who live and work in the city
Use trees and vegetation to enhance community pride
Cultivate appreciation of the social, economic, environmental and aesthetic value of trees and the urban ecosystem
Promote volunteerism among city residents, suburbanites who frequent the city for work and recreation and corporations doing business in the city
Create an ethic of care within Detroit’s individual and corporate residents, thus ensuring proper maintenance of all planting projects
Encourage environmentally responsible development of the city including land use planning and the preservation, creation and expansion of green space
Build capacity and provide support to Detroit’s environmental community
Act as the primary leader in Detroit’s environmental affairs
Impact health issues by creating a cleaner and greener environment
