3/16/10

We made it through again, Michigan.

If there's something crazy you want to do, I recommend this Saturday, 20 March. It's the Vernal Equinox (for us Northern Hemisphereans -- GO NORTHIES!), which marks one of two days of the solar year* during which daylight and nighttime hours are equal.

This is the beginning of Spring, when the Forces of Daylight rise up and choke the living crap out of the forces of Winter Darkness, which have had their time enough, gnawing on our ankles and crushing our pasty little souls.

It's the time to emerge from our caves, scrape the crusts from our skin, and fornicate openly on the dwindling ice floes.

Or maybe just put the battery back in the motorcycle, put on a scarf and two pairs of gloves, and get the fuck out on the road.

Happily for us, the equinox happens on a Saturday** this year.

Heed the call, Northies.
Get yourself up and do something you've been wanting to do for the past six months. There is no better antiseptic than the sun, and it's going to warmly, lovingly and increasingly beam away all of your sins -- all while encouraging even more.

*Actually, the Vernal Equinox is often listed as March 20/21 (Mar 20, 2010, 1:32 PM EDT according to NOAA) so I say go crazy on both days.

**The other one is the Autumnal Equinox, when daylight once again succumbs to encroaching night. We'll deal with that bastard when it gets here (Sep 22, 2010, 11:09 PM EDT per NOAA).
