If you are heading to see Gotye this coming Tuesday at The Fox Theatre be sure to arrive early so you do not miss this band.
Filmmaker Matthew Day did a great documentary about Nick Zammuto (of
Zammuto, The Books, etc.) and his unique life (he and his family live on a farm,
grow their own food, do all their own renovations, etc) and working methods.
It's beautiful and inspirational and just debuted online in advance of making
the rounds on the festival circuit
Zammuto are presently on the first full-fledged US tour and have dates
in Europe planned for the Fall (all dates posted below). In the film Nick
demonstrates an idiosyncratic method for "programming" a beat by carving it into
the center of an LP (check it out at minute 3) - the band are presently selling
a tour-only edition of their debut LP with a screenprinted poster and a "beat"
handcarved into the center of the record by Nick Zammuto.
