NEW MUSIC/FREE SHOW: The Science Fair - OddYears EP Release at Hard Rock Cafe 1/24

Known for their funky brand of infectious indie dance-rock, Detroit five piece The Science Fair throw a curveball with their latest EP. The self-released OddYears is a slight departure from 2011's Ready Like A Radio. OddYears remains right in the band's wheelhouse, but veers into more moody and ambient territory.

"We had a split with our record label in the middle of recording a full-length album," explains TSF guitarist Chris Heine. "That left us in a weird spot, without a real path or direction. We kept writing new material that didn't fit with what had already been tracked, so we thought it should be released on its own." This helps to understand the change of course on OddYears, as a one-off art piece.

The band is looking to build momentum towards an impending full-length release later this year. So what can we expect from the upcoming material? "Something heavier." says bass player Chris Young.

The EP is now available on Bandcamp and The Science Fair will celebrate the relase tomorrow night with a FREE, All Ages shows at the Hard Rock Cafe in downtown Detroit. Innovative alterna-metal newcomers Ignoring The Echoes will open the show at 8pm.
