ATTN DANCE/MUSIC & FILM/THEATRE --- 2014 Kresge Artist Fellowship Applications in Dance/Music and Film/Theatre Now Available!

Emerging and established metropolitan Detroit Dance/Music and Film/Theatre artists may now apply for a $25,000 Kresge Artist Fellowship at www.kresgeartsindetroit.org.

 

This year, for the first time, Film/Theatre artists are eligible to apply. Film/Theatre is a new arts category this year that will award directors in both film and theatre, as well as screenwriters and playwrights.

 

This year, we're excited to reach deeper into the community to serve and support a broader range of artists.

The 2014 Kresge Artist Fellowships provide support for nine Dance/Music Fellows and nine Film/Theatre Fellows, living and working in metropolitan Detroit (Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties).

Fellowships are given to artists whose commitment to artistic achievement, in contemporary or traditional forms, is evident in the quality of their work.

Artists working in the following disciplines are eligible to apply for the 2014 Kresge Artist Fellowships:

DANCE/MUSIC
Choreography, dance, music (composers and performers in all genres), sound art and interdisciplinary work (including experimental work and other hybrid forms).

FILM/THEATRE
Directing (in film and theatre), screenwriting and playwriting.

Since 2009, Kresge Arts in Detroit has awarded 90 fellowships, totaling $2.5 million. Kresge Artist Fellowships are funded by The Kresge Foundation and administered by the College for Creative Studies, with professional practice opportunities for the selected fellows provided by ArtServe Michigan.
