NORTH BY NORTHEAST (NXNE) announces its second round of NXNE Music programming for its 20th anniversary, taking place in Toronto June 13-22, 2014.

NXNE Music has confirmed performances by SPOON, who said they were “superbuzzed” to be returning to touring – this time in anticipation of their eighth studio album; SLEIGH BELLS, described by Stereogum as “a band that would prefer not to move mountains but to obliterate them entirely”; SPIRITUALIZED, who Billboard describes as "simply the best band in the world at doing what it does"; TUNE-YARDS, ahead of the much-anticipated third album Sink-OA$AP FERG, set to drop the A$AP Mob collective L.O.R.D. EP in March; METZ, returning to NXNE after topping highlight lists for their chaotic live sets, including praise from NME; RYAN HEMSWORTH, whose album Guilt Trips is up for a Juno Award for Electronic Album of the Year; SWANS, hailed by The Quietus as “one of the most apocalyptically intense and euphoric live bands currently in action”; GOAT, whose underground debut had a five-star review from The Guardian; Polaris Prize long-listers THE BARR BROTHERSONEOHTRIX POINT NEVER, recently hitting number one on Bleep’s “Best Albums of 2013” list for R Plus Seven; and electronic two-piece FUCK BUTTONS, described by Noisey as "some of the rawest, noisiest experimental music coming out of the UK."

Also announced: LOW, an indie rock favourite for the past twenty years; TIM HECKER, whose seventh album Virgins received Metacritic’s universal acclaim designation; Leeds-based punks EAGULLS, rising fast with their single Possessed; GLASSER, described by Exclaim! as "a vital emerging voice in popular music"; KELELA, after wowing North American audiences on a recent tour with Solange; NYC alternative rap collective RATKING, set to drop their So It Goes debut in April; punk outfit PERFECT PUSSY, gaining praise from the likes of Chart Attack, The Guardian, and Pitchfork; SMALL BLACK, whose new album Real People drops March 1; queer hip-hop artist LE1F, who just signed to Terrible Records; and Macaulay Culkin's THE PIZZA UNDERGROUND, who re-work Velvet Underground songs into odes about pizza.
