Frogbelly and Symphony are born of the clash and fusion that characterized the late 20th century. Disparate influences from the Old World to New York are brought together in the furnaces of Sheffield and Brooklyn, revealing a stylistic repertoire that injects the indigenous workingman’s soul into the periphery of the bohemian metropolis. Academically trained in traditional instrument playing and constantly experimenting with production techniques, the progressive post-punk 5-piece with folk and noise influences is fronted by NYU-trained violinist & keyboardist Liz Hanley and bassist Tom Hanley, and rounds out its membership with Ben Trott on guitar, who studied jazz and classical guitar in the UK, Ray Rizzo on drums, co-founder of Louisville's Motherlodge Festival who has lent his skills as a drummer to artists like Bonnie "Prince" Billy and Ben Folds, with additional tour support from Philip Schewe on guitar, keys and drums.

Formed in 2013, Frogbelly and Symphony's live sets usually feature a theatrical rock show, often involving the audience in pieces of improvised performance. The band performed their first series of shows in NY and MA in early 2013, including a showcase at the Mercury Lounge in NYC, followed by tours across Europe through the UK, France, Switzerland, Germany and the Netherlands. In the midst of their 2013 road schedule, Frogbelly and Symphony released an EP entitled the EYE (Labelship, UK). The band is currently preparing to tour the U.S. east coast and midwest with their new material this September, following a busy spring road-testing their new songs and performance throughout Finland and Estonia, and a summer in the studio working on their forthcoming debut full-length, produced by Martin Bisi (Sonic Youth, Swans, Dresden Dolls, Bill Laswell) and tracked in the fabled BC studio in Brooklyn, set for release on Labelship records at the end of the year.
