THIS WEEKEND! Civil War Days at Historic Fort Wayne September 13-14



The Historic Fort Wayne Coalition continues its year of events Saturday and Sunday, September 13-14 at the Fort, located at 6325 W. Jefferson (at the foot of Livernois), with a Civil War Days weekend from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

            A wide variety of activities will take place around the Star Fort and throughout the Historic Fort Wayne complex, including artillery demonstrations, a medical display, a union headquarters, a union garrison living as they would have in the 1860 within the Star Fort, Civil War-era cooking demonstrations, costumed interpreters portraying President Abraham Lincoln, U.S. Senator from Michigan Jacob Howard, and Michigan Governor Austin Blair, a Sunday morning garrison church service and a historic baseball on Sunday out on the parade grounds outside the Star Fort.

The Fort’s regular hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Saturday and Sundayeach weekend now through Sunday, October 26. Secured parking is $5 per vehicle. Admission is $3 for adults and kids under 12 are FREE for this special weekend. Guided tours of the Historic Fort Wayne complex will also be offered each day priced at $5 for adults and free for children under 12.  The guided tours will include the Star Fort and barracks built in the 1840s, as well as the Spanish-American War Guard House.
