SONGWRITER AUDRA KUBAT FEATURED ON “DETROIT PERFORMS” TV SHOW ON PBS


Singer-songwriter Audra Kubat will be a featured performer on the performing arts television show “Detroit Performs” on the local PBS station, WTVS Detroit Public TV. The show will be broadcast on Tuesday, October 21 at 7:30 pm and available for download on the website www.detroitperforms.org 'Detroit Performs' encompasses all of Detroit Public Television's Arts and Culture programing but it is also a website and a TV series that celebrates the arts in Southeastern Michigan.

The crew from Good Sense Solutions recently filmed one of her live performances at her weekly open mic night that she hosts at Union Street Restaurant every Tuesday. The night has become the most popular open mic nights in the city and has featured guest performances from some of Detroit's finest musicians such as Eddie Baranek and Timothy Monger. It has launched many up and coming songwriters such as Michelle Held and Michael Galbraith.

Here are some of the upcoming featured guests scheduled to perform this month at the open mic night:

Oct. 14 - Jarrett Koral - This 16 year old songwriter from St. Clair Shores started the indie record label Plastic Records.
Oct. 21 - Mary Bue – A singer-songwriter from Duluth, Minnesota
Oct. 28 - Joy Ike – A singer-songwriter from Pittsburgh, PA

Besides hosting the weekly event, Audra is also inspiring a new generation of performers by teaching college level songwriting with Detroit Institute of Music Education and music and movement through Living Arts program. Living Arts is based in Southwest Detroit and provides Youth and Community Arts and Dance education and after school programs to the city's youth. www.livingartsdetroit.org 

Audra is currently putting the finishing touches on her sixth album due out on her own imprint Remedy Records in 2015.
