THIS FRIDAY: Eleanora, Soft White, Remnose and Woven Tangles bring layered shimmers to Old Miami

Eleanora, Soft White, Remnose and Woven Tangles bring layered shimmers to Old Miami
A little theater and musical bliss not to be missed

On Friday, November 14th, 2014, four bands bring their unique and soaring sounds to the classic Detroit venue The Old Miami, located at 3930 Cass Avenue in Detroit.
Please join us in the warmth of the bar as we start to fend off Michigan's cold late fall winds.

Eleanora could be loosely described as chamber folk, but prefers to add in some dark r&b flavor and pop just to shake it up, drawing as much from Billie Holiday as Radiohead. They are a five-piece band co-fronted by Leah Dunstan and Julia Stephenson, whose voices and musical sensibilities are just fated to be together. You'll hear them on viola, violin and clarinet as well as guitar.

Remnose is a relatively new project but has been expertly combining the aesthetics of indie-country and classic rock, with soaring lead guitar and earthy, pining vocals. Started by brothers Marlon and Carson Morton, Remnose recently added a drummer to their roster. It's a mystic band not to be missed.

Woven Tangles started as the duo of Holly Bernt and Kevin Kline in the tradition of folk harmonizing, then added a whole band along to create a more eclectic, energetic and surprising show. The fun they have on stage is delightful and captivating, and the musicianship is incredible.

Soft White, fronted by vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Jen Bowen, does not sacrifice intrigue and movement for its dreamy and shoegazey sound. Synth, guitar and sugary vocals are the foundation for this four-piece. They wrap up the listener in layers of sound that blend plasticine and organic elements together very well.
